I registered but have not received the confirmation email.
Please check your SPAM folder of the email address you used to register your account. If you are unable to find it, email us from the same email address or complete the contact form for us to assist you.
Please also consider whitelisting the Moneyweb email domain by following the steps in the "I am not receiving any Moneyweb emails" section below.
The system is not accepting my username or email address.
Usernames and emails must be unique to each account and cannot be used for multiple accounts. If our system is not accepting your username or email address, it might already be used for a different account. Try resetting your password by requesting a password reset email here.
The system is not accepting my password.
It could be that there was a typo error in the password when you registered. Please reset your password by requesting a password reset email here.
I can't log in, even after resetting my password.
If you are unable to log in without the website giving you an error, please email us or complete the contact form for us to assist you. Usernames that contain specific characters can cause problems on some pages.
How do I know I am logged in?
To easily see if you are logged into the website, a MY TOOLS button must be visible on the top right corner of your desktop window. On mobile devices, you'll see a icon if you are logged in.
How do I change my username?
Users are unable to change usernames themselves, as this has to be unique to each account. Please email us or complete the contact form with the new username and we'll make the change for you.
How do I change my email address?
To change your email address for your account, go to My profile page and update your email there.
If you want to change the email address for your newsletter subscription, unsubscribe from your current email address and subscribe with your new email address by following this link.
If you no longer want to have an account or your information on our website, please request us to delete your account on your profile page. Alternatively, email us or complete the contact form.
It is not necessary to delete your account to purchase a new subscription, as a subscription is only linked to your account. If you want to cancel or purchase a new subscription, you can do so on your member's area.
I subscribed to newsletters but am not receiving them.
Please review your newsletter subscriptions here to confirm you are subscribed. Please also check your SPAM folder. If you can't locate the newsletters at all, please email us or complete the contact form for us to assist you.
How do I unsubscribe from Moneyweb newsletters?
To unsubscribe, click on the "unsubscribe" link at the bottom of our newsletters. Alternatively email us to remove you from our newsletter mailing list.
I am not receiving any Moneyweb emails.
If you are not receiving any of our emails, please whitelist our 'moneyweb.co.za' domain in your inbox. Below is a step by step guide for each popular platform:
Gmail - Create a filter:
- Click the cog icon in the top-right corner, and then Settings;
- Click on Filters and then Create a new filter;
- Enter "moneyweb.co.za" in the From field;
- Click Create filter with this search;
- In the box headed When a message arrives that matches this search select Never send it to spam;
- Click the Create filter button.
Outlook.com - Add the address to your safe senders:
- Click the cog icon in the top-right corner and then More mail settings;
- Select Safe and blocked senders and then Safe senders;
- Add "@moneyweb.co.za" to the list of Safe senders;
- Return to Safe and blocked senders and then select Safe mailing lists;
- Add "email@example.com" to the list of Safe mailing lists;
Yahoo! Mail - Create a filter for the address:
- Mouse over the Settings menu icon and select Settings;
- Click Filters and then Add;
- Enter a Filter Name;
- enter "moneyweb.co.za" in the Sender field;
- Select Inbox as the folder to deliver the email to;
- Click Save and then click Save again.
If you are using a custom domain for your email address, please contact your email service provider to assist.

What does the Insider Gold subscription offer?
Moneyweb's premium subscription gives investors and money-savvy professionals full access to all our award-winning articles, Sens archive and Sens PDFs, market indicators and data tools to track your portfolios, subscribe to email alerts and compare financial instruments.
To cancel your subscription, go to My Membership page and click on VIEW BILLING next to Moneyweb Insider Gold.
Click on the CANCEL button to cancel your subscription.
This will set your subscription to "pending cancellation", which means you'll have access to the Insider Gold benefits until the end of the same month, but your subscription will end and not auto-renew for the next month.
You can revert the cancellation before the end of the same month if you wish to continue with your subscription.

My debit order failed.
This can either be due to insufficient funds on your card or if your bank card changed or expired. If your card is no longer valid, please cancel your current subscription and purchase a new subscription with your new card. Your portfolios and user data will not be affected by this.

How do I update my card details for my subscription?
Please cancel your current subscription and purchase a new subscription with your new card. Alternatively, you can switch payment methods here. Your portfolios and user data will not be affected by this.

To renew your subscription before the expiry or renewal date, go to My Membership page and click on VIEW BILLING next to Moneyweb Insider Gold.
Click on the RENEW NOW button to renew your subscription.
If you have a discount coupon, you can enter the coupon code at the top of the checkout page to apply the discount to your order.
How do I switch from a monthly to a yearly subscription?
Only one subscription type is allowed per account. If you want to switch from a monthly to a yearly subscription and your monthly subscription is active, first cancel your monthly subscription and wait for the end of the month until your subscription ends.
You are then able to purchase a yearly subscription in the new month.
If you want to purchase a yearly subscription without having to wait for the end of the month, please email us at email@example.com to assist.
I only want to pay via EFT.
Unfortunately, we do not accept direct bank payments (EFT) for monthly subscriptions. However, if you want to purchase a yearly subscription (R700) and pay via EFT, please email us to assist.
How do I apply a discount coupon?
You can enter a discount coupon at the top of the checkout page after you've added the subscription to your cart. Otherwise, please email us to assist.
How do I comment on articles?
You have to be logged into the website or app to comment on articles. Below the article, you will see a LEAVE A COMMENT button. Click on this to expand the comment form.
Click on POST to post your comment.
To see if your comment posted successfully, please refresh the page.
I posted a comment but it's not showing.
Please note that some comments need to be moderated before appearing. To see the status of your comment, go to your comments page.
While Moneyweb encourages discussion and community engagement on its articles, note that our company, article authors and commentors may be held liable for defamatory comments.

Can I remove or fix my comment?

We do not list international instruments or unit trusts investing in commodities or market liquidity-based indices or institutional funds.
ETFs, ETNs commodities, cryptos and currencies cannot be added to the portfolio tool, however in the future we may expand the functionality to include these instruments.
My portfolios and/or instruments are not loading?
Please try to reload the page (Ctrl+R) to see if it helps or wait a few minutes. It could be that the system is under pressure or one of our APIs is down. If this does not resolve by itself, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org to notify us.
I subscribed to email alerts but have not received any?
It's important to note that an alert is only sent when there is an article or Sens announcement published related to a company you are subscribed to. Also remember to check your SPAM folder of your inbox. If you believe there is still a problem, please email us to investigate delivery issues.
I want to pause or cancel my subscription. What happens to my portfolios?
Your portfolio and portfolio data will not be affected if you change or renew your subscription, as long as your subscription is reactivated within 3 months of inactivity.
However, if you pause or cancel your subscription, or your subscription is left unpaid, your portfolios will stop updating the performance data.
You will regain access to your portfolios when your subscription is reactivated, but the performance data will be affected for the period past the 3 months of inactivity.
Can I access my portfolios on the Moneyweb App?
The Insider Gold subscription and its features and benefits are only available on the website (https://www.moneyweb.co.za), and can’t currently be accessed via our apps.
Price values updated every 5 minutes (09:15 - 17:15).
Price values updated twice a day.
Click on the "Add portfolio" button. Choose your portfolio type and name your portfolio. You can add an optional description which can be edited afterwards. Click on "Create a custom portfolio" button. A popup will appear confirming your new portfolio.
You cannot add unit trusts to a share portfolio, or shares to a unit trust portfolio. The data of each type is structured differently.
Add instruments to your portfolio
Click on the title of your new portfolio and click on the button "Add instrument". This will open a new tab to the JSE search page or the Unit Trust search page, dependent on the type of portfolio. Click on the green button "Add" next to the instrument you want to add and select the portfolio you created.
If you don't see your new portfolio in the popup when you add an instrument, make sure you created the correct portfolio type.
To see your updated portfolio, go back to your Portfolio Tool (watchlist) and reload the page and click on the title of your recently created portfolio. Your list of instruments is in a window below your list of portfolios. This will scroll down to your instrument properties. Here you can see a quick overview of the market data of your instrument, change the volume and add a purchase price.
Edit instrument volume
To edit the volume (amount) of instruments you hold in your portfolio, click on the portfolio that contains the instrument, then click on the instrument you want to edit. On the right hand side is an "Edit share" section. Enter the new amount and click on "Update Volume". A popup will appear to confirm this change and the portfolio will reload with the new volume and the new value in portfolio.
Edit instrument purchase price
A "purchase price" option is available if you wish to compare and track the price at which you bought the instruments. Only one purchase price per instrument is available. Please make use of your "notes" section to record more details about your instruments.
To edit the purchase price of instruments you hold in your portfolio, click on the portfolio that contains the instrument, then click on the instrument you want to edit. On the right hand side is an "Edit share" section. Enter the new purchase price and click on "Update Price". A popup will appear to confirm this change and the portfolio will reload with the purchase price in the table row of your instrument.
A "Profit/loss" notice will now appear under the "Performance" box to show you how your instrument's purchase price is performing against the current live price.
Please note that editing the volume and adding/editing a purchase price is both recorded in your "notes" section.
Subscribe to email alerts (JSE companies only)
You can subscribe to email alerts of JSE listed companies. Go to your My Alerts page, and add shares from the popup to enable the option to subscribe. You can choose to subscribe to News and/or Sens alerts.
News and Sens announcements are sent to you via email as soon as they are published. If your subscription is inactive, on hold or cancelled, you won't receive these alerts.
Add notes to your portfolio
Notes can be used to record prices, dates and additional information about your instrument. To add a new note, add your text to the text box and click on "Add note". To edit past notes, click on the icon and click on "Update note", or if you want to delete your note, click on "Delete note".
Remove an instrument from your portfolio
Click on the title of the portfolio, scroll down to the instrument and click on the title of the instrument you want to remove.
On the window below, click on the "Remove Instrument" button on the right hand side to remove the instrument or on the next to the instrument.
Edit or delete a portfolio
To edit the title or description of your portfolio, click on the icon in the table row of your portfolio. Enter the new title and/or description and click on "Save changes".
To delete your portfolio, click on the icon in the table row of your portfolio, and confirm deletion.
Update portfolio values
Portfolio values are updated once an hour* and may differ from the share values in a portfolio due to different update intervals. To manually update a portfolio's total value, click on the next to each portfolio.
* The update process can take a while to complete on big portfolios and can cause a time-out error. If the total of your portfolio looks odd or is outdated, please manually refresh your portfolio. A popup will appear when the update is complete.
